This 130cm high light column basically consists of a 125mm drainpipe (which has never been used as such :-) with 923 holes drilled into it and a 36W fluorescent lamp in the center. The drilling took quite some time, but the cool look was worth the effort. Notice the moire effect :-)

The light column in action. It produces a convenient, warm light, not the harsh, cold light which is so typical for fluorescent tubes.
